The Dialog Serial Port Service (DSPS) is a proprietary service over the Bluetooth Smart protocol, provided for Dialog BLE chips, that emulates a serial cable communication. It provides a simple substitute for RS-232 connections.The Dialog Serial Port Service (DSPS) reference application is an application for demonstrating the SPS service in Android and iOS systems. The DSPS application can discover, connect and exchange data with other DSPS enabled devices within the Bluetooth RF range of the mobile device.
Major features:
Scans for BLE peripheral devices that are advertising and displays them in a scan list. The user can select the peripheral device that he wants to be connected with the mobile device
Provides the status of the connected device at the top of the screen with the use of a light indicator (Green – connected, Grey – unconnected)
Handles situations of connection loss by stopping the flow of data and automatically trying to re-establish a connection.
Provides console emulation.
Transmits data repeatedly using the cyclic sending function.
Transmits a file using the ‘Data File Streaming” function.
Receives data with the ability to control the incoming data flow.
Logs all incoming data to a log file.
DSPS Permissions
Full network access - allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. the browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internetRead the contents of your usb storage - allows the app to read the contents of your usb storage
Modify or delete the contents of your usb storage - allows the app to write to the usb storage
Access bluetooth settings - allows the app to configure the local bluetooth device, and to discover and pair with remote devices
Pair with bluetooth devices - allows the app to view the configuration of bluetooth on the device, and to make and accept connections with paired devices
